Saturday Afternoon at the Movies

When World War II started officially for the United States on December 7, 1941, the military intelligence wings of the Army and Navy were already in action. Their intelligence analysts knew with the breakdown of the Munich Agreement in 1937 and the subsequet occupation of Czechoslovakia that Nazi Germany was intent on going to war in Europe. Any doubts about that conclusion ended on September 1, 1939 when they cancelled the last of the Nuremburg Rallies (the theme for that rally was supposed to be "Peace."), pulled off the Gleiwitz Incident to claim Poland attacked them, and then started the invasion of Poland. It would take Nazi Germany and their then partner: the Soviet Union, three weeks to finish off Poland and carve it up between them.

Spy Smasher

While the West watched in horror as the Nazis and the Russians ended Polish sovergnty, the intelligence services in the United States started preparing for war. One of the ways they prepared for war was to begin marketing the war to the American public. Hollywood imported movies likeSherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon from Great Britain in 1943, but even in 1940, they started releasing comic books to support the war effort. When the Pearl Harbor attack happened, those comic books started becoming films. While they did a lot of war-based movies, it was movie serials that kept people interested in World War II. One of the more popular serials was Republic PicturesSpy Smasher starring Kane Richmond. It was a Twelve-Part series based upon a comic book by the same name published by Fawcett Publications in the Whiz Comics line. Production on this series started just fifteen days after the Pearl Harbor attack. Clearly, Republic Pictures was writing this serial before the War had started for the United States. Also, the comic books upon which this serial was based was distributed a couple of years prior to the the time the serial was released. Officially, the release date for the serial was April 4, 1942, but it was being seen in selected theaters up to six weeks before. It would remain a popular serial for the rest of the War. Unfortunately, Kane Richmond, the actor playing the main character quit acting in the 1950s and started up a fur business. Even though the serial was redone for television in 1966, interest in the concept seemed lacking. The "Spy Smasher" idea returned to a degree in 2007 when a woman sharing a surname with the original Spy Smasher appeared in a Birds of Prey comic in 2007. This character bore little semblance to the Alan Armstrong character in the serial.

The Truth Behind the Fiction

As we have studied media, both in the movies and in television, we have found that much of what they are producing is based upon a story from an often completely different source. In other parts of this website, we have found episodes of Fringe which support Mark Twain's idea that "the truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; truth isn't." We have also seen it in a number of Grimm episodes. As we study media more and more, we are finding that the writers are getting their material from actual events. Much of what we see in the media is beyond the ability of writers to create on their own. It has to come from some source... But what could that source be? The Bible Codes know...

And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohim, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For Elohim shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:12-14)

The phrase: "Spy Smasher" seems like a very unlikely title for any serial. It is Hollywood that prides itself on being creative and indeed, they have come up with some very creative titles in the past. We could fill web pages full of them. But this one makes little sense from a creative perspective. Yet, when you watch the serial, the "cliffhangers" at the end of the episode made people want to return to the movie theater the next week to see how the hero gets out of the jam they were in.

From week to week, the audience would see the battle between an Evil Nazi simply called "The Mask" and Spy Smasher played out in their own lives as they United States gears up to fight World War II. We see the Nazis with their "bat plane" and their special submarine appear to overpower the U.S. Government, only to see the determination of Alan Armstrong (Spy Smasher) win out, time and time again, during the episodes.

A Bible Code on Spy Smasher???

Indeed, when we started our Bible Code research on Spy Smasher, we had no idea what we would get. When we put in the two words "Spy" and "Smasher" in a matrix, they came out in a single line. But the shock came when we added Lazarus, one of the two witnesses. to this Bible Code:

When we see this, we will have to adjust our thinking as to what these Two Witnesses are really about. Too many times, we tend to see them as two humble men traversing the earth as the "Wandering Jews," humbly preaching the Gospel of the Yahushua Ha'Messiah (Jesus Christ) to anyone who would listen. However, this image often portrayed in movies is likely not realistic. What may be more realistic comes from the Book of Jeremiah, the most voluminous book in the Bible:

Then YHWH put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And YHWH said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. Moreover the word of YHWH came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said YHWH unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. (Jeremiah 1:9-12)

It is clear that if this was the commission given to Jeremiah, the Two Witnesses would have a similar commission. Olaf Hage discovered the work of the Two Witnesses in the printing of the Gutenberg Bible, the drawings and art of Di Vinci, and dozens of other activities. Therefore, if the job of Lazarus is to be the "Spy Smasher," is there a chance that this code could tell us the nature of what he is doing? What is Joseph of Arimathea doing in all of this?
